Senior Center Update: Whad’ya expect?

A couple in their 90s are both having problems remembering things. During a checkup, the doctor tells them that they’re physically okay but they might want to start writing things down to help them remember.

Later that night, while watching TV, the old man gets up from his chair.

“Want anything while I’m in the kitchen?” he asks. “Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?” “Sure.” “Don’t you think you should write it down so you can remember it?” she asks. “No I can remember it.” “Well I’d like some strawberries on top, too. Maybe you should write it down, so as not to forget it.”

Irritated he says, “I can remember that, I do not need to write it down.”

Then he toddles into the kitchen. After about 20 minutes, the old man returns and hands his wife a plate of bacon and eggs. She stares at the plate for a moment, and asks, “Where is my toast?”

I wanted to share this funny story and caution you on how important it is to keep your brain and body active through the winter months, so join us here at the Osage County Senior Center for some fun and exciting activities.

Beginning in January will be the Wheel of Fortune Game. Please stay tuned for more details. A special event for seniors only is planned for Dec. 23: holiday bingo and Christmas carol karaoke, 9-11 a.m. If you missed the Kings of Swing on Saturday, they will be back.
