Patricia Esther Longfellow, 71, Ottawa: Nov. 9, 1944 – Dec. 22, 2015

OTTAWA – Patricia Esther Uitts Longfellow, 71, of Ottawa, Kan., passed away peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015, at Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Mo.

She was born Nov. 9, 1944, in LaHarpe, Kan., the daughter of William and Lena (Madison) Uitts.

She grew up and attended school in LaHarpe. 

Patricia was united in marriage to Melvin Eugene Hill on Sept. 22, 1960, in Iola, Kan. They shared more than 42 years of marriage before the death of her husband on Dec. 15, 2002. Patricia married Richard Longfellow on Aug. 6, 2008, in Ottawa. They shared more than eight years of marriage.

Patricia was a homemaker. She was a member of the Community Foursquare Church in Ottawa. She enjoyed cooking, reading, working on puzzles, talking on the CB radio, listening to gospel and country western music and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Melvin Hill; a son, William Leon Hill; a brother, Leon Uitts; and three sisters, Lela Copeland, Lucille Herman and Dodi Dow.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Longfellow, Fort Scott, Kan.; three sons, Roy Hill, Burlingame, Kan., and Loren Hill and Elmer Hill, both of Ottawa; a daughter, Danta Hockett and husband, Jason of Chino Valley, Ariz.; sister, Maxine Jones, Ottawa; brother, Charles Uitts, Chanute, Kan.; and five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 29, at the Community Foursquare Church, 119 E. Ninth St., Ottawa. Visitation will be 6-8:30 p.m. Dec. 27, at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory St., Ottawa.
