Victor Dean Reece, 90, Overbrook: Dec. 12, 1925 – Dec. 25, 2015

122715-Victor-Reece-1451226OVERBROOK, Kan. – Victor Dean Reece, 90, of Overbrook, passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2015, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kan. He was born Dec. 12, 1925, in Topeka, the son of Glenn Reece and Cecil (Kelly) Reece.

He grew up in Topeka and graduated from Washburn Rural High School with the class of 1943. Following school he served his county in the U.S. Army during World War II. Victor worked as a vocational therapy case manager for 38 years at the Topeka State Hospital.

He raised American Walker Fox Hounds and registered Quarter Horses in his free time as well as game chickens. He was also a member of the Overbrook American Legion.

Victor was united in marriage to Dorothy Miller on March 17, 1950, in Topeka. They shared more than 59 years of marriage until Dorothy passed away in November 2009.

Victor was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Coleen Babbitt; brother, Vernon Reece; and sisters, Evelyn Erickson, Arlene Ellison, Shirley Gregg.

He is survived by seven children; Michael Reece, Overbrook, William Reece, Hamilton, Kan., Kathleen Lee, Ottawa, Kan., Tim Reece, Overbrook, Ed Reece, Udall, Kan., Kevin and his wife, Lisa, Overbrook, Jim Reece, Osage City, Kan.; and 22 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Overbrook Methodist Church, Overbrook. Interment will follow at Appanoose Cemetery, Appanoose, Kan. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home, Overbrook.
