Alvin Raymond Kitt, 73, Lebo: Sept. 20, 1942 – Jan. 5, 2016

LEBO, Kan. – Alvin Raymond Kitt, 73, passed away Jan. 5, 2016, at his home in Lebo, Kan. He was born Sept. 20, 1942, on the family farm near Quenemo, Kan.

Alvin had lived in Lyndon and Osage City before moving to Lebo five years ago. He graduated from Lyndon High School in 1960, and had been a member of the Lyndon Presbyterian Church. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968 with the 1st Air Cavalry.

He retired in 1997 from Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Topeka, where he had worked as an inspector and earthmover tire repairman.

Alvin was married to Alta Jo Abney on Nov. 10, 1962, in Osage City. They later divorced. He married Claudia Willyard on April 1, 2009, in Miami, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his wife Claudia on Feb. 15, 2011; by his parents, Roland and Pauline; and by a sister, Peggy Kitt, in 1956.

Alvin is survived by his two stepsons, Luke Flatin, Hastings, Neb., and Sam Flatin, Melvern; brother, Kerry Kitt (Marilyn), Burlington; sister, Lorene Cranwell (Larry), Topeka; a nephew, Darin Kitt; three nieces, Stacie Fleischer, Shawna Swaffar and Stephanie Herrick; and four stepgrandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, at the Melvern United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church. Inurnment will be in the Melvern Cemetery.
