Take time to improve yourself

By Stephanie Watson

Time. If time didn’t exist, neither would we. And we do not have any control over time. We can’t stop time, slow down time, speed up time or alter it in any way. Sometimes it seems to fly or crawl at a snail’s pace, but it really just continues to march along methodically and will do so until the end of time.

But there are things we can do with time. We use it as a unit of measurement. We can use time wisely or we can waste time. We can lose time or we can make up time. We can borrow time and we can buy time. We can have leisure time and we can have productive time.

Time is precious. Time is sacred. Once time passes, we can never get it back. Idle time is time we let slip by doing nothing but thinking about things that do not matter and usually turns into negative thoughts and negative attitude. We must safeguard ourselves from becoming prisoners of idle time. Stay busy, be productive, volunteer or socialize.

The Osage County Senior Center is a great place to do any and all of those. Come join us and avoid the idle time blues and improve your well-being.

I’ll leave you with a little humor. Renowned genius Albert Einstein was once asked to explain in simple terms his understanding of time. His response was very simple but at the same time very profound. He said that time only exists so that everything doesn’t happen all at once. Think about that for a minute.

Spend some time with us. The Osage County Senior Center is at 604 Market St., Osage City; call 785-528-4906 for more information.
