Application deadline March 9 for Emporia Match Day

The Emporia area Match Day is returning for its third year and applications from charitable organizations interested in participating in this year’s event are now being accepted through March 9. With the incredible success of the Match Day experience for the past two years, the Emporia Community Foundation is once again providing the community the opportunity of “paying it forward” to several charitable organizations through one giving experience.

The 2016 Emporia Area Match Day event, like last year, will be held at the Flinthills Mall on Nov. 14. Matching funds for this year’s event are still being secured and will be announced at a later date. Last year’s event raised nearly $122,000 that was awarded to 20 charitable organizations through nearly $78,000 in donations, $37,500 in matching funds and additional prize money. Up to 25 organizations will be considered for participation in this year’s event which will include the original 15 organizations. Additional organizations may apply for the remaining spots in this year’s Match Day event. Applications for new participants are available by calling the Emporia Community Foundation at 620-342-9304 or by stopping by the office at 527 Commercial, Suite 501.

The intent of Match Day is to provide the opportunity to bring together diverse networks of people and charitable causes to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness in the service of changing our community and our world for the better. It is an opportunity to celebrate giving and encourage more, better and smarter giving to work together for the good of the community.
