Turnpike bridge construction to begin March 7 in Osage County

OSAGE COUNTY, Kan. – Construction on four bridges on the Kansas Turnpike, I-335, near mile marker 157 will begin on March 7, 2016. This two-year project includes reconstructing two bridges at mile marker 157.013 over Dragoon Creek and removing two bridges at mile marker 157.153, over an abandoned railroad track.

In 2016, re-construction of the northbound creek bridge will take place. All traffic will use the southbound bridges where there will be a single, 12-foot lane of traffic in each direction.

The northbound creek bridge is expected to be complete in late November, weather permitting. No work or traffic restrictions will occur in winter to accommodate for snow removal and winter driving conditions. The southbound creek bridge will be completed in 2017, along with removal of the bridges crossing the abandoned rail line.

Drivers are encouraged to check for construction updates at http://www.kandrive.org and watch for information on KTA’s digital message boards.

King Construction, Hesston, Kan. is the general contractor.
