To be rescheduled: Drug Free Osage County town hall meeting on marijuana use

Update: This town hall meeting has been postponed due to a community pep rally to celebrate the Osage City High School Indians varsity boys basketball 3A state championship. Osage County News will report when it is rescheduled.

In recent years, several states have passed legislation legalizing the use of marijuana for recreational or medicinal purposes. This year, proposed legislation has again come before Kansas lawmakers. While those who support legislation feel that marijuana use can be beneficial, many professionals who work in substance use prevention and treatment disagree.

To help both youth and adults separate myth from reality when it comes to the legalization and use of marijuana, Drug Free Osage County is hosting a town hall meeting … in the Osage City High School auditorium.

Dr. Eric Voth will speak at the town hall meeting. Voth practices medicine in Topeka, and has spent more than 20 years studying the effects of drugs and addiction. He is an internationally known authority on drug use, and has served as an advisor to four United States presidents regarding drug policy.

The town hall meeting is open to the public, and is funded through a grant from the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.
