Forrest ‘Bub’ Allen, 63, Pomona: April 5, 1952 – March 19, 2016

POMONA, Kan. – Forrest “Bub” Allen, 63, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at his home north of Pomona, Kan. He was born on April 5, 1952, in Ainsworth, Neb., the son of Marvin and Twyla Shepperd Allen.

Bub graduated from Quenemo High School in 1970, then received an associate degree from Allen County Community College, which he attended on a sports scholarship in basketball and track. He then attended Wichita State University on a track scholarship, throwing the javelin.

He worked for Midwest Precoat and then for Clarkson Construction as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 101. Bub enjoyed fishing, farming, and his dogs and horses.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Twyla.

Bub is survived by his two sons, Josh and Abby Allen and granddaughter Addison, all of Junction City, and Tyler Allen and grandsons Jace, Tanner and Kade, all of Ottawa; two brothers, Lynn Allen and Brad Allen, both of Quenemo; a sister, Melody (Terry) Hoffsommer, Overbrook; and several nieces and nephews.
