Leroy W. Brecheisen, 77, Quenemo: Feb. 7, 1939 – March 30, 2016

QUENEMO – Leroy W. Brecheisen, 77, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at his home near Quenemo, Kan. He was born on Feb. 7, 1939, on the family farm east of Lyndon, the son of Leonard and Doris Adkinson Brecheisen.

Leroy had lived most of his life around the Quenemo community.

He attended the No. 9 School in Franklin County for first grade, then attended Quenemo Schools, where he graduated in 1957. He worked for Goodyear Tire Company in Topeka for more than 12 years, then worked for the Overbrook Coop until 1975, when he took over Brecheisen Fencing, where he worked until his retirement. He had been a member of the Ottawa Eagles and had been baptized in the Vassar Methodist Church.

On Dec. 2, 1961, Leroy was married to Viola Tatman, in Quenemo.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Doris; and a brother, Fred Brecheisen.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Viola, of 54 years; two sons, David Brecheisen and wife, Mel,  Lyndon, and Robert Brecheisen and companion, Deadra Smith, Ottawa; a brother, Jim Brecheisen, Westminster, Colo.; a sister, Linda Crettol, Osage City; and three grandsons, Gaige, Beau and Jace Brecheisen.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel, in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, at Quenemo.
