High water closes several Osage County roads

The Osage County Sheriff’s Office is reporting several roads are closed around the county this morning due to high water from the overnight rains.

The sheriff’s office reported that around 6 a.m. April 27, U.S. Highway 56 east and south of Burlingame and Burlingame Road north of the city were closed due to water over the roadway. State Highway 31 west of the city remained open. Around 8 a.m., the sheriff’s office reported Burlingame Road was open and U.S. 56 east of town had one lane open, while the highway south of town was still closed.

Also reported around 8 a.m. was the closure of Stubbs Road south of Quenemo, due to rising water from the rains.

Most parts of the county received rain throughout the night; one reader reported 4 inches was collected in a rain gauge north of Lyndon.
