Margaret (Peggy) E. Simmons, 96, Colorado Springs: Jan. 13, 1920 – April 13, 2016

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Margaret E. (Peggy) Simmons passed away in Colorado Springs, Colo., on April 13, 2016, at the age of 96.

She was born Jan. 13, 1920, in Overbrook, Kan., the daughter of Arthur and Marcelene (Smith) Clark.

She graduated from Overbrook High School in 1938. She worked as a switch board operator at Fort Riley, Kan.

Peggy married Paul Simmons on Feb. 5, 1949, in Overbrook.

They moved to Colorado in 1964, and moved to Topeka, Kan., in 1994. In 2004, she moved to Colorado Springs, and has resided there since. Peggy was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, in Colorado Springs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Simmons; parents, Arthur and Marcelene Clark; a sister, Winifred Spano; and three brothers, Robert Clark, William Clark and Howard Clark.

She is survived by a son, Joe Simmons and wife, Marti; granddaughter, Traci Holle; grandson, Michael Simmons; great-grandson, Alaric Erhard; a brother, James Clark and wife, Joyce; three sisters-in-law, Celesta Clark, Jesse Clark and Louise Clark; along with many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home, 730 Western Heights Drive, Overbrook.
