Osage City Chamber, Melvern Pride offer free samples of life in Osage County

WINFIELD – Osage City and Melvern were in the spotlight for a statewide audience last weekend at the 27th annual Kansas Sampler Festival, held at Winfield. Representatives of the two Osage County communities had booths in the northeast Kansas tent, greeting several thousand festival-goers each day of the two-day event. Serving as ambassadors for Osage City were Dave and Tara Azwell, who were assisted Saturday by Jim and Gail Lohmeyer, and Jan Williams and Wayne White. Greeting Sampler Festival visitors for Melvern Pride were Jane and Ken Yocum.

Jane and Ken Yocum showed Melvern’s pride at the 2016 Kansas Sampler Festival.

Melvern and Osage City were among more than 140 Kansas communities gathered May 7-8, 2016, at Island Park in Winfield to tell people about historic sites, unique events, local eateries, specialty shops and more. Through the communities’ booths, historical re-enactors, musical entertainment, and food, the annual festival highlights all that is good about Kansas.

Next year, May 6-7, 2017, is planned as the final run of the festival; it will also be at Winfield.
