Ernest Ira Bone, 41, Lawrence: Nov. 11, 1974 – May 14, 2016

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Ernest Ira ”Ernie” Bone, 41, of Lawrence, Kan., and formerly of Quenemo, Kan., passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, at his home.

He was born Nov. 11, 1974, in Houston, Texas, the son of Larry and Brenda (Smith) Bone.

He grew up and attended grade school in Lexington, Ohio, and Butler, Ohio. He was adopted by Elaine Smith and lived in Quenemo. He graduated from the Pomona High School in 1993. Ernie worked at Wright Tree Service before working at American Eagle Distribution Center in Ottawa, Kan., where he was a material handler and forklift operator. He enjoyed playing pool with family and friends. He was a gamer and also enjoyed concerts.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harold and Evelyn Bone; an uncle, Donald Bone; and two step-grandfathers, Tom Gazia and Adrian Marshall.

Survivors include his mother, Elaine Smith and her husband, Charles, Quenemo; father, Larry Bone, Mansfield, Ohio; his biological mother, Brenda Smith, of Florida; stepgrandparents, Jim and Ardith Badger, Carbondale, Kan.; grandmother, Shelby Jean Gazia, Alliance, Ohio; two sisters, Amanda Remark and her husband, Ronald, Mansfield, and Angela Ross and her husband, Eric, Olathe, Kan.; and aunts, uncles and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

To celebrate Ernie’s life, a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 6, at the New Life Assembly of God Church, 118 Fifth St., Baldwin City, Kan. The family will receive friends before the service at 9 a.m.
