Thomas E. Calcott, 59, Erie: Aug. 13, 1956 – May 17, 2016

ERIE, Kan. – Thomas E. Calcott, 59, of Erie, Kan., passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 17, 2016. Thomas was born Aug. 13, 1956, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Thomas Faye Calcott and Betty Joanne McConnell.

He moved with his family to California, where he graduated from Cabazon High School, Cabazon, Calif., with the class of 1972. In 1973, Thomas entered the United States Marine Corps and served his country until 1977. After his military service he moved to Garnett, Kan., living there until moving to Richmond, Kan., in the late ‘80s. In 2011, he moved to Erie, Kan., where he has lived since.

Thomas was a crane operator for various construction companies for more than 25 years. 

In 2002 Thomas was united in marriage to Bobbie Jo Calcott. She precedes him in death. He is also preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by seven children, Thomas Kazmierski and his wife, Kelly, Honolulu, Hawaii, Freda Reed, Erie, Debra Kelley, Kincaid, Kan., John Calcott and his wife, Renee, Ottawa, Kan., Josh Calcott, Greeley, Kan., Tony Denney, Ottawa, and Cody Thompson, Ottawa; five siblings, Robert Calcott and his wife, Patricia, of Westphalia, Kan., Mike Penland and his wife, Tracie, Quenemo, Kan., Sandra Nedwed and her husband, Ron, Waverly, Kan., Vikki Bellinger and her husband, Donnie, Homewood, Kan., Jimmy McConnell, Henry, Ill.; and 12 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 23, at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory St., Ottawa. The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at the funeral home.
