Floyd Chester Boss Jr., 62, Osage City: March 12, 1954 – May 26, 2016

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Floyd Chester Boss Jr., 62, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at his home in Osage City, Kan. He was born on March 12, 1954, in Sedan, Kan., the son of Floyd and Betty Bohannon Boss Sr.

Chet, as he was known, lived in Cedar Vale, Kan., before moving to Osage City in 1969.

He graduated from Osage City High School and then received his bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University. He had worked at the Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant as a field welding engineer. He had also managed the Osage City Municipal Golf Course for a time.

Chet was baptized in the Baptist church in Cedar Vale at age 8, and had attended the Catholic church in Osage City.

On March 17, 2007, Chet was married to Kathy Lehrbach, in Miami, Okla.

Chet is survived by his wife, Kathy, of the home; six children, Jesse Boss (Abby Bracken), Fredonia, Kan., Nicholas Boss, Dallas, Texas, Monika (Shalako) Rowsey, Osage City, Misty Lehrbach (Jeremy Dogeagle), Union, Wash., Amber Kennedy (Justin Wiscombe), Overbrook, Kan., and Lindsay Lehrbach, Osage City; his parents, Floyd and Betty Boss, Osage City; three siblings, Debra Boss, Topeka, Larry Boss, Osage City, and Tina McIver, Council Grove; sixteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild, former wife, Carol Boss, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, at the Community Covenant Church, Osage City. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date.
