Frontier Extension District offers kids summer cooking camps

Frontier Extension District will be offering a Mexican cookery camp and a yeast bread baking camp for youth in Osage County this summer. The basics of cooking or baking will be taught with new recipes.

Mexican cookery camps will be at the Lyndon Extension office at 128 W. 15th St. on July 27, 28 and 29, with a morning class and an afternoon class offered. The morning class will be 9 a.m. to noon, and the afternoon class will be 1-4 p.m.

The making yeast bread class will be held at the Osage City Methodist Church kitchen, 219 S. Sixth St., Osage City. Class time will be 1-4 p.m. on July 11, 12 and 13.

Youth who are in third through fifth grade can pre-register for the summer camps by calling the Extension office in Lyndon at 785-828-4438. A consent form for parents or guardians can be found online at: www.frontierextensiondistrict.ksu.edu ; bring completed form and fee to the Lyndon Extension office.

The fees for each camp are $10 per single child; in families with more than one child, the first child is $10, second is $7, and the third child is $5. Special arrangements are available for youth who receive free and reduced lunches during the school year.
