Osage County Republicans schedule primary election candidate forum

Osage County voters will hear from local, state and national Republican candidates 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, at the Osage County Senior Center, Osage City. Both incumbents and candidate hopefuls will address issues and answer questions from the audience.

The forum will provide time for each candidate to present information about their positions on issues, and attendees will have an opportunity to submit questions in advance. The event is hosted by the Osage County Republican Party and is open to the public.

Incumbent U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran will be represented by Josh Berg, field director for Moran, and U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins will be represented by Lee Modesitt, Jenkins’ campaign manager.

The event will also feature candidates for state offices including Zach Haney, a candidate for state senator, District 19, and Sue Mollenkamp, a candidate for Kansas State Board of Education.

Incumbent candidate State Rep. Ken Corbet, House District 54, and Eric Smith, who is seeking election to House District 76, are scheduled to attend. State Rep. Blaine Finch, House District 59, has also been invited.

Osage County candidates who have confirmed their participation in the event are incumbent county commissioners Gaylord Anderson and Ken Kuykendall; incumbent county clerk Rhonda Beets; and incumbent county sheriff Laurie Dunn. Also speaking at the forum are candidates for register of deeds, including incumbent Linda Massey and Rose Hearn, and candidates for county treasurer, including incumbent Shari Weber, Lexie Fager and Tamara Massey.

The senior center is at 604 Market St., Osage City.
