OCPR Update: Soccer, volleyball, cheerleader camps kick off

OCPR-logo-redKids involved in Osage City Parks and Recreation activities are having a busy, fun-filled summer. With hot weather here, the Osage City Aquatic Center has been a popular gathering spot and the pool is open daily through Labor Day weekend. Soccer, youth volleyball, and cheerleading camps are also about to get under way (note sign up deadlines). Here’s the latest OCPR update:

Osage City Aquatic Center

OCAC Pool Hours

  • May 28-August 7, Monday-Friday, 1-7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 1-6 p.m.
  • August 8-Labor Day, Saturday and Sunday, 1-6 p.m. (includes Labor Day)
  • Daily Admission, $3 (Age 4 & Above); age 3 & below FREE; age 65 & over FREE.

OCAC swim pass booklets

  • Swim booklets are available for purchase at OCAC
  • 50 swim card booklet, $50

Deck and pool rental reservation can be made with Corey Linton.

OCAC Water Aerobics

  • Tuesday and Thursdays, 7 p.m.
  • Week of May 30-Week of August 1
  • Water Aerobics Instructor, Marcy DeWitt
  • Cost is $3 per class or one swim card.

Red Cross Swim Lessons

  • Private Swim Lessons
  • Cost $40 per week (One week = five 30-minute lessons)
  • Contact OCAC for a private swim lesson form.

Soccer Camp

  • 5th-8th grade – grade is based on the 2016-2017 school year.
  • OCPR is partnering with Ryan Murphy to offer a soccer camp for boys and girls in 5th-8th grade.
  • Camp location, Jones Park Ball Complex (Outfield of Field #3)
  • Camp dates and time, August 1-5, 9-11 a.m.
  • Players at the soccer camp will participate in fun games, scrimmages, and drills.
  • Players need to wear comfortable clothes for camp (T-shirt, shorts, cleated shoes are preferred but not required), and water. A snack will be provided on each camp day.
  • Camp fee, $10 per player.
  • Camp forms and payment can be taken to Osage City Hall (Utility Office, 201 S. Fifth St.)

Youth Volleyball Camp

  • Open to all 3rd-6th graders in the Osage City area.
  • Players will learn floor positioning, passing, serving, setting, and attacking skills.
  • All players receive a camp shirt and each 6th grader receives a special OCPR volleyball.
  • Volleyball instructors – Amie Lohmeyer and OCHS volleyball players.
  • Session dates and time – Mondays, August 22, 29 and September 12, 19  6-7 p.m.
  • Location – Osage City School gyms.
  • $25 per person
  • Signup deadline: August 19

Youth Volleyball League

  • Open to all 5th/6th Grade volleyball teams in the Osage City area.
  • OCPR is offering a 5th/6th grade recreational volleyball league for area town teams.
  • Six-team league max.
  • Teams play a minimum of 4 matches, each match session is 3 total game and rally score for each point.
  • Game #1 & #2 are played to 25 points and Game #3 is played to 15 points.
  • No standings are kept and no awards handed out.
  • OCPR supplies the game ball.
  • League team fee – $50 per team
  • Location – Osage City School gyms.
  • League Dates & Time – Mondays, August 22, 29 and September 12, 19, 7-8 p.m.
  • Signup deadline – August 19

OCHS Cheerleading Camp

Camp instructors – Kelsey Sturdy and the OCHS cheer team

  • Camp location – Osage City School gyms
  • Camp dates (Wednesdays) – September 7, 14, 21
  • Pre-K only – 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Kindergarten-5th Grade – 6:30-8 p.m.
  • Camp fee, $20 per person
  • Cheerleaders will learn 3 Sideline cheers, one added cheer, the OCHS school song cheer.
  • Each cheerleader receives a camp shirt.
  • Recommended Practice clothes – shorts, sneakers, socks, T-shirt, no jeans please.
  • Camp performance – September 30 (OCHS Football Field). Performance with the OCHS cheer team during the first half of the game.
  • Signup deadline – September 2
