Garry James Lingo, 67, Pomona: Dec. 19, 1948 – July 30, 2016

POMONA, Kan. – Garry James Lingo, 67, of Pomona, Kan., passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Brookside Retirement Community, Overbrook, Kan. He was born Dec. 19, 1948, in Ottawa, Kan., the son of Lester and Ada Elsie (Beard) Lingo. He grew up and attended schools in Waverly, Kan.

He married Dora Ann Bulson on Feb. 22, 1969, in Leavenworth, Kan.

Garry was a truck driver, small engine mechanic and farmer. He worked for Ottawa Machinery and Dodge, Underwood Equipment, Sheldon/Kile Equipment, and retired with Killough Construction Company in 2010.

He attended Church of Christ in Waverly, and The Community Foursquare Church in Ottawa. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and restoring tractors and cars in his spare time.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Nadine Caple, Rosemary Kunard and Fern McDougal; a brother, Edwin Lingo; and a nephew, Ken Caple.

He is survived by wife, Dora Ann Lingo, of Pomona; two daughters, Sherry Sullivan, and Terri Brilke and husband, Mark, all of Pomona; four grandchildren, Kelsey and Shawn Sullivan, Kodiak Brannan and Kaden Brilke; three great-grandchildren, Tristan Clark and Emery and Natalie Jones; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory, Ottawa. Interment will follow at Evergreen Mound Cemetery, Ottawa. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
