Bus trips available for daily transportation needs

Submitted by Byron Jordan, senior center director

The Osage County Senior Center and its activities, meal service and public transportation program will be closed May 27 in observance of Memorial Day.

Although the rider appreciation bus trips to such places as Newton, Abilene, Salina and Atchison have fared well the last several years, ridership has declined for the regularly scheduled general public transportation bus trips for grocery shopping, medical needs and other activities in Topeka, Emporia and Osage County. This service provides a pleasant and economical mode of travel for all Osage County residents, not just senior citizens. For more information about the bus schedule, call 785-528-4906.

Upcoming events at the senior center include:

  • Thursday, May 23: Art and painting class 9 a.m.; Hartford and Americus trip 9:15  a.m.
  • Friday, May 24: Bingo 10 a.m.; cribbage 12:15 p.m.
