Vandals damage signs and mailboxes southwest of Osage City; citizens’ help requested

Update 6 p.m. Aug. 19, 2016: The Osage County Sheriff’s Office has reported a suspect has been identified in this case and a report has been forwarded to the county attorney’s office for prosecution. The sheriff’s office thanked the public for assistance in solving the case.


The Osage County Sheriff’s Office has taken several reports of street signs, railroad signs, Corps of Engineers signs, and mailboxes that were ran over by a vehicle during the overnight hours Saturday night to Sunday morning. The incidents occurred in an area southwest of Osage City and near Sun Dance Park at Melvern Lake.

Anyone with any information about these acts of vandalism is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 785-828-3121 or Crimestoppers at 877-OS-CRIME. If information results in an arrest or warrant, callers can be eligible to receive a cash reward.
