Dennis Ross Ferman, 74, Lawrence: June 14, 1942 – Aug. 8, 2016

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Dennis Ross Ferman, 74, of Lawrence, Kan., passed away Aug. 8, 2016. He was born June 14, 1942, the son of Boyd B. and Neil Dalby Ferman.

He attended elementary and high school in Burlington, Kan., and graduated from high school in 1960. He attended Pittsburg State University and the University of Nebraska, where he studied mathematics. He later attended the University of Mexico, where he studied computer science. He worked as a college mathematics instructor, software engineer, English teacher in Korea, and various volunteer type jobs.

He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, and in the Peace Corps in Tonga. He spent almost 20 years in Oregon. He returned to Burlington in 2001 for five years, until his mother passed away.

He is survived by a sister, Carolyn S. Woodruff, Topeka.

Dennis spent almost 25 years traveling and working abroad. His life reflected the old saying “Whatever road I take I’m going home.” His passing was another road on that journey.
