Osage City Parks and Recreation sets summer schedule

Osage City’s aquatic center opened May 25. Below are the hours it is open this summer and the latest information about Osage City Parks and Recreation’s summer schedule of activities.

OSAGE CITY AQUATIC CENTER

OCAC Pool Hours

  • — May 25-Aug. 11, Monday-Friday, 1-8 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 1-6 p.m.
  • — Aug. 13 – Labor Day, Saturday and Sunday, 1-6 p.m. (includes Labor Day)
  • — Lap Swim, Monday-Friday, 7-8 p.m.

— Daily admission, $3, age 4 and above.

  • — Age 3 and below FREE
  • — Age 65 and over FREE
  • — OCAC Swim Pass Booklets are on sale at Osage City Hall and are available for purchase at OCAC starting May 26.
  • — 10 Swim Card Booklet, $20
  • — 50 Swim Card Booklet, $50
  • — Deck and pool rental reservation can be made with Corey Linton prior to May 26.

TAE KWON DO

  • — Summer Session, June 3 – Aug. 26
  • — Little Ninjas, age 5-7, Mondays, 6:30-7:10 p.m.

  • — Open TKD Class, age 8 and above, Mondays, 7:15-8:30 p.m.
  • — New student, $120
  • — Current student, $80
  • — Advanced TKD Class, Saturdays, 9-10 a.m., as announced.

SUMMER ART CAMPS

Art camp instructor, Becky Weaver.

  • — Becky is the current K-12 art teacher for USD 420.
  • — Camp location, The Powell House, 704 S. Second St., Osage City.
  • — All classes are potentially messy. Students need to wear “play” clothes.
  • — A minimum of four students is needed to make each class.
  • — A child’s grade is their grade in the 2013-2014 school year.
  • — Art camps are open to all students, not just those in USD 420.

Art Exploration

  • — First-third grade, June 3-6, 9-10 a.m.
  • — Fourth-eighth grade, June 3-6, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
  • — Each day kids will explore different art mediums and processes which may include drawing, painting, sculpting, and/or crafts.
  • — $25 each
  • — Signup deadline May 31

Jewelry Making

  • — First-eighth grade, June 7, 9-10:30 a.m.
  • — Children will make a pair of earrings, a bracelet, or a key chain.
  • — $15 each
  • — Signup deadline June 3.

RED CROSS SWIM LESSONS

Session One, June 10-21

  • — 9-9:45 a.m., Level 1, Pre-School III
  • — 10-10:45 a.m., Level 3, 5, Guard Start, Pre-School II
  • — 11-11:45, Level 2, 4, Pre-School I
  • — SIGN-UP DEADLINE, June 3

Session Two, June 24-July 5

— Cost is $25 per swimmer per session.

— Pre-school classes are for children age 3-5.

— A minimum of 4 swimmers is needed for a class to make.

— Private Swim Lessons

— Cost $40 per week (One week=five 30-minute lessons).

  • OCMS Girls Volleyball Camp, sixth-eighth grade, July 15-19, 10 a.m.-12 p.m., $25 per player.
  • — Players who sign up by May 31 are guaranteed a camp T-shirt.
