Educators to host legislative forum at Santa Fe Trail High School

CARBONDALE – The Santa Fe Trail Education Association will host a legislative forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the fine arts dome at Santa Fe Trail High School. All interested persons are invited.

The Santa Fe Trail Choraliers will sing the National Anthem, debate students have researched questions to ask and will be posing the questions to the candidates (along with some emailed from the general public), and family and consumer science students have made cookies and punch for afterwards.

Candidates will have two minutes for a brief introduction and two minutes to answer each question. All candidates from House Districts 54, 59, and 76, Senate District 19, and State Board of Education candidates Ann Mah and Sue Mollenkamp have been invited to attend.

As of the time of this release, Renae Hansen, Teresa Briggs, Eric L. Smith, Anthony Hensley, and Ann Mah have confirmed their attendance.

Santa Fe Trail High School is at 15701 S. California St., Carbondale, or about four miles west of Overbrook on U.S. Highway 56.
