Ronald Bennie Oswald, 87, Lyndon: June 23, 1929 – Oct. 4, 2016

100516-oswaldLYNDON, Kan. – Ronald Bennie Oswald, 87, of Lyndon, Kan., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

He was born June 23, 1929, at Beemer, Neb., the son of Ben and Verna Oswald.

Ron was a Marine veteran and served during the Korean War. He was discharged in 1953 as a staff sergeant.

Ron was employed by KCPL for 35 years, and retired as a lead lineman in 1992. He lived on a farm south of Lyndon and was a stockman for more than 40 years. Ron and his wife, Rosemary, were active in square dancing and belonged to several area clubs. He was a member of the Lyndon United Methodist Church. He loved his family, sports, and camping. 

Ron married Rosemary Clevenger in 1954, she survives of the home. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Russell, and grandchildren Megan Oswald and Kyle Oswald.

He is also survived by his sons, Russ Oswald (Sherry), Lebo, Kan., Rick Oswald (Polly), Wamego, Kan., Rod Oswald (Sheri), Osage City, Kan.; a daughter, Rhonda Bloom (Ken), Pittsburg, Kan.; and grandchildren, Caleb Oswald, Rylie Oswald, Tyler Oswald, Rachel DeCagna, Jessica Bloom, and Josh Oswald.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at the Lyndon United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 7, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
