Elders: Reap rewards from sharing your wealth of knowledge

By Stephanie Watson

Everybody faces trying times and controversial issues, especially seniors. Coping with tough times and issues with a positive attitude and the resolve that you can and will overcome any situation keeps us moving forward in the right direction. I hope inevitably people will come around to accept the world and the people in it and continue to live life with the expectations that you can make things better in your community.

Many of us focus on our own faults too much. Self-awareness is important, but so is knowing the worth you bring in your “golden years”. You have wisdom and experience that makes you an asset to friends, family and those you interact with. Please consider volunteering, mentoring and sharing the wealth of knowledge you have accumulated over your lifetime. You’ve seen the good and bad in life and know how to keep it all in perspective – and that can make you a delight to be around.

Please come spend some time with us this week at the Osage County Senior Center, 604 Market St., Osage City, or for more information, call 785-528-4906.
