Osage City High School theater will present the musical Bye Bye Birdie at 7 p.m. on Nov. 11 and 12, 2016, in the high school auditorium.

This fun 1950s musical will delight audiences of all ages. The musical follows international singing sensation Conrad Birdie as he gets drafted into the Army, and his manager Albert Peterson and his secretary Rosie Alvarez create a scheme to cash in on Conrad’s fame one last time. This plot takes the celebrity to small town Sweet Apple, Ohio, where his presence disrupts the lives of the teens in town – the girls are swooning over Conrad and their steadies are not too happy about it. In addition to the high school cast, the show also features a cameo by four middle school students, Jerra Butterfield, Liz Devoll, Greta Crawford and Ashlyn McCoy, as “the New York teens”. Admission will be $5 per person at the door.

On Nov. 12, there will also be a spaghetti dinner prior to the musical in the school cafeteria. The Band Boosters are sponsoring the full-course meal and proceeds will help pay for the band’s trip to St. Louis next spring. The dinner will include live music and a chance to mingle with the Bye Bye Birdie cast. “Dinner and a show” tickets are $15 each and include both the meal and admission to the musical. Call the high school office at 785-528-3172 to reserve seats for dinner and the show.
