CARBONDALE, Kan. – Violet “Vicky” Rivas, 55, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at her home in Carbondale, Kan. She was born on Oct. 11, 1961, in Clovis, N.M., the daughter of Ernest and Mary Farmer Arnold.
Vicky had lived in Carbondale for the last 11 years. She worked at the Carbondale Attendance Center District 434 as a cook, and she had also worked at the Carbondale Thriftway. She had attended the Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship.
Vicky was married to Benito Joe Rivas on Oct. 4, 1976, in Clovis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mary, and a brother, James Arnold.
Vicky is survived by her husband, Joe, of the home; three children, Michelle (Gary) Stanley, Ft. Worth, Texas, Phillip Rivas, Topeka, Kan., and Amanda Rivas, Carbondale; nine siblings, Rosie Baker, Ft. Sumner, N.M., Billy Don Arnold, Clovis, Richard Arnold, Stafford, Ariz., Myrle Rush, Clovis, Arlene High, Scranton, Kan., Roy Arnold, Portales, N.M., Joann Garrett, Topeka, Peggy Cole, Roswell, N.M., and Mike Arnold, Topeka; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, at the Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship. Cremation will follow the services. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until service time at the church.
