LYNDON, Kan. – Alvin Lee Jiskra Sr., 80, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, at Osage Nursing Center, Osage City, Kan. He was born on Aug. 11, 1936, in Swanton, Neb., the son of Edward and Rose Placek Jiskra.
Alvin had lived near the Lyndon, Kan., community for the last 20 years, and had lived in Garden Plain, Kan., before that.
Alvin was a farmer and stockman all of his life. He had served in the Air National Guard.
He married Alberta Mae Miller on May 23, 1970, in Lincoln, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta, on July 24, 2016; his parents, Edward and Rose; a daughter, Joyce Jiskra; and a brother, Milo “Mike” Jiskra.
Alvin is survived by his two sons, Alvin Jiskra Jr., of Lincoln, Neb., and Adam Jiskra, Harveyville, Kan.; two daughters, Rebecca Becker, Keota, Iowa, and Rhonda Jiskra, Lyndon; two sisters, Helen Oltrogge, Beatrice, Neb., and Betty Shestak, Western, Neb.; and five grandchildren, Kyra Jiskra, Dakota Jiskra, Spenser Becker, Sage Becker and Shae Lynn Becker.
Alvin was cremated and private family inurnment will be in Nebraska at a later date. Feltner Funeral Home, Lyndon, is assisting the family.
