Burnett named to national team pool for USA Boccia

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – A local athlete has been named to the USA Boccia national team pool for the 2017 competition season. Adam Burnett, of Osage City, Kan., along with other team pool members, were selected from the top boccia athletes in the United States based on performance at USA Boccia Nationals and other events throughout the year.
According to USA Boccia, Burnett and fellow team pool members have shown through success in national competition the potential to excel on the international stage. As a member of the USA Boccia National Team Pool, athletes have the opportunity to be selected for a U.S. team at an international competition.
Boccia is a paralympic sport designed for people with moderate to severe physical disabilities. USA Boccia provides persons with physical disabilities the opportunity to play, learn and compete in the sport of boccia on the local, regional, national and international level.
Athletes are expected to raise their own funds to cover expenses of competition, which can be as much as $2,000-$4,000 per person.
