Donated vehicle helps county foundation continue its charitable mission

012017-OCCF-CAR-JANUARY-201The Osage County Community Foundation received a welcome donation recently, but it wasn’t money. According to Perry Thompson, chairman of the foundation board, a local resident donated a car to the foundation.

“He was not sure what to do with it and his health eliminated his need for the car any longer,” Thompson said. “I thought it was a neat way to give something besides money.”

The foundation will sell the car and has set an asking price of $5,000 for the one-owner 2007 Chevy Impala; the car has 105,816 miles on it. Offers will be considered. The car is parked at Jodi Lohmeyer-Starks State Farm Insurance, Osage City.

The foundation is expected to announce recipients of its winter grants round next month. The foundation makes grants for innovative and creative projects and programs that are responsive to changing community needs in the areas of health, social service, education, recreation and cultural affairs. The foundation also continues to seek donations to continue its charitable work in supporting Osage County organizations.
