TOPEKA, Kan. – Michael “Mike” G. Buchmeier, 53, of Topeka, Kan., passed away Friday, Feb. 3, 2017, at Stormont Vail Hospital. He was born Jan. 25, 1964, in Topeka, the son of Marvin and Delores Ann Buchmeier.
Mike worked in Topeka for various grain elevators for many years. He was a member and was baptized in the former St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, in Topeka. Mike was an avid Chiefs football fan.
Mike was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, Ann (Leroy) Mekelburg, of Yuma, Colo.; two sons, Tim Hisey, Topeka, and Duff (Ashley) Buchmeier, Ozawkie, Kan.; two daughters, Crystal (Decory Martinez) Buchmeier, Topeka, Nikki Buchmeier, Topeka; three brothers, Mark Buchmeier, Topeka, Myron Buchmeier, Topeka, and Marty Buchmeier, Overbrook, Kan.; a sister, Marilyn Blocker, Topeka; two stepbrothers, Leroy Mekelburg Jr., Denver, Colo., and Lynn Mekelburg, Eckley, Colo.; stepsisters, Lorinda Kinlaw, Linden, N.C., and Lana Rogers of Otis, Colo.; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at the Davidson Funeral Home, Topeka. He will lie in state 12-8 p.m. Wednesday, with a visitation 6-8 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Half Day Cemetery.
