Improve your mood; get out and about on local excursions

By Stephanie Watson

Weather can be sunny, stormy, and dreary or unpredictable but then so, too, can your mood. The way you feel on any given day may actually be intricately tied to the weather forecast in ways science is only beginning to understand. Many people are now aware that spending time outdoors on a sunny day, and allowing the sun to shine on your bare skin, is necessary for your body to produce Vitamin D which also plays a role in serotonin production. If you find yourself feeling dreary, join us at Osage County Senior Center – especially at 1:30 p.m. March 21, when we will be having a magic show, featuring Joe Stringer.

Bus excursions for the month of March include a fun trip to the movies in Topeka on March 8, 2017. The time the bus will be leaving the center has not been set due to movie schedules. Call 785-528-4906 to reserve your seat on the bus. March 22, we will be traveling to Ottawa for a visit to all of the area thrift shops. The bus will be leaving the center at 10 a.m. All bus excursions will be $5 for a round trip. Please note that the busing service is not just for seniors. Anybody in Osage County is welcome to ride Osage County General Public Transportation. We are here for your transportation needs. The fee for using the service is $3 round trip within Osage County borders and $5 round trip outside of Osage County.

For more information, contact the Osage County Senior Center at 785-528-4906 or stop by 604 Market St., Osage City.
