PEORIA, Kan. – Kenneth Leray Evans, 75 of Peoria, Kan., passed away Sunday, March 12, 2017, at his home. He was born Dec. 12, 1941, in Ottawa, Kan., the son of George Ray Evans and Juanita Louise (Anderson) Evans.
Kenneth attended school in Ottawa, graduating from Ottawa High School in the class of 1959. He served our country in the United States Navy from 1962-1966. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Kenneth was a motorcycle enthusiast and a skilled woodworker; he made numerous items for family members and others through the years. He worked as a machinist for Polaris Electronics, Olathe, Kan., for more than 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Juanita, and a brother, Dennis A. Evans.
He is survived by his son, Anthony Glenn Evans, Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Elaine Phillips, Perry, Kan., Mary Graves and husband, Dennis, Overbrook, Kan., and Ranita Keener and husband Mark, Augusta, Ga.; two brothers, Roger Evans and wife, Cheryl, Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Loren Evans and wife, Debbie, Ottawa; and many nieces and nephews.
Family will greet friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory, Ottawa. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 17, at Ottawa Bible Church, 1623 S. Poplar, Ottawa. Interment with military honors will follow at Peoria Cemetery at Peoria.
