TOPEKA, Kan. – Goldie Katherine McKnight, 89, of Topeka, Kan., passed away March 30, 2017, at her home. Katherine was born Nov. 16, 1927, to Earl Mitchell and Flossie Brown.
She met Artie McKnight in Gravette, Ark., where they later married on Feb. 9, 1946. Together they had three daughters. Katherine briefly worked as an egg breaker at the Seymore Packing House, and at Goodyear Tire on an assembly line.
She is survived by two daughters, Arlene M. Craig, of Carbondale, Kan., and Joyce E. Price, Topeka; a sister, Mary Ann Doud, Topeka; and 12 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Katherine is preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband Artie, a daughter, Patricia A. Wake, an infant sister, and a great grandchild.
She will lie in state 2-7:30 p.m. Monday, April 3, at Davidson Funeral Home, with visitation 6-7 p.m. Monday. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Rochester Cemetery, Menoken Road, Topeka.
