Marilyn Miller, 81, Pomona: Aug. 16, 1935 – May 4, 2017

050517-millerPOMONA, Kan. – Marilyn Miller, 81, passed away on May 4, 2017, at the Ottawa Retirement Village, Ottawa, Kan. She was born on Aug. 16, 1935, in Garnett, Kan., the daughter of Hubert “Slim” Feuerborn and Maude Bowman.

Marilyn grew up in Garnett, had lived in Ottawa, Vassar, Kan., and Pomona, Kan.

She graduated from Ottawa High School. She worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 23 years, and was the postmistress in Pomona until she retired in 1992. She was a member of the PTA and Booster Club in Pomona. A member of the National Association of Postmasters of the U.S., she was northeast district president, vice-president, secretary-treasurer and state editor. She was one of four original founders of the Don Marrs Cancer Research Scholarship at Kansas State University, and a past member of the Ottawa Business and Professional Women Organization.

Marilyn married Melvin Miller on Sept. 12, 1953, they later divorced. She married Jim Eichinger on Oct. 19, 1992; he preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 2010.

Marilyn was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Denis Feuerborn and Raymond Feuerborn; two sisters, Maxine Russell and Doris Cleveland; and a grandson, Matt Soper.

Marilyn is survived by her two sons, Curtis (Susan) Miller, Overbrook, Kan., and Mark (Tracie) Miller, Pomona; three daughters, Marcy (Joe) Soper, Quenemo, Kan., Janie (Stan) Dillon, Ottawa, and Debbie (Charlie) Reno, Pomona; and 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, at the Woodlawn Cemetery, at Pomona. The family will receive friends 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon.
