Nancy Rae Thurston, 61, Osage City: Nov. 12, 1955 – June 15, 2017

OSAGE CITY, Kan. – Nancy R. Thurston, 61, of Osage City, Kan., ended her journey here on earth and gained her wings, June 15, 2017, at Osage City Nursing Center, Osage City, Kansas. She was born Nov. 12, 1955, in Emporia, Kan., the daughter of Raymond and Bonnie (Gardner) Lohmeyer.

Nancy attended Osage City Schools. She married Lynn Thurston in 1972. They later divorced. She worked hard to make a home for her two children, Michelle and Travis. Nancy was known for her quick wit, independence, her smile, and sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Bonnie Lohmeyer, brother Quentin, and ex-husband, Lynn Thurston.

Survivors include her daughter, Michelle Wilson, Greenwood, Mo.; son, Travis Thurston and wife, Jeana, Peculiar, Mo.; three grandchildren, Kristyn Friday and husband, Thomas, Elk City, Okla., and Zack and Janae Thurston, Peculiar; three brothers, Ronald Lohmeyer, Coffeyville, Kan., Jim Lohmeyer and wife, Gail, and Bernie Lohmeyer, and wife, Velma, all of Osage City; and many, many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial contributions will be used to help with the upkeep of the Osage City Santa Fe Park and purchase of a new bench, and can be sent, in Nancy’s name, to the Bank of Osage City, 913 Market St., Osage City, KS 66523.
