TOPEKA, Kan. – Milan Harvey Knight, 80, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at his home in Topeka, Kan. He was born on Nov. 5, 1936, in Michigan Valley, Kan., the son of Milan and Letha Rose Knight.
Harvey grew up in Quenemo, Kan., where he graduated from Quenemo High School in 1954. He attended Emporia State University, Emporia, Kan., and Washburn University, Topeka. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad and then joined the United States Army from 1959 to 1962. He attended Clark Business School, in Topeka, and then was an office manager for Dick Handy Motors, in Emporia. He then worked as an accounting department manager for Famous Brands until his retirement.
On Aug. 19, 1961, Harvey married Shirley Pinkston, in Quenemo.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Milan and Letha, and a sister, Anna Rose Baber.
Harvey is survived by his wife, Shirley, of the home; a son, Dennis (Michel) Knight, Manhattan, Kan.; six siblings, Joyce Long, Lawrence, Kan., Robert (Linda) Knight, Murfreesboro, Tenn., Ronald (Connie) Knight, Ottawa, Kan., Kaye (Bob) Counts, Victorville, Calif., Cheryl (Mike) Weiss, Ft. Worth, Texas, and Debra (Larry) Harris, Ottawa; and two granddaughters, Veronica and Courtney.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 30, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon, Kan. The family will receive friends from noon until service time. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kan.
