Fishermen have unusual good luck at Osage City Lake

Fishermen have been enjoying spring fishing at Osage City Lake, although many non-traditional methods have been used to land some lunkers. Eventually the lake will be drained for an ongoing dam rehabilitation and dredging project, but in the meantime, fishing regulations have been suspended and fishermen have been allowed to take fish in whatever manner they wish. About 4:20 p.m. Sunday, Caden West, left, and Shayne Lang, both of Osage City, drug a huge flathead catfish out of the lake. West captured the large flathead by wading into a shallow area of the lake and feeling around with his boots in two-foot deep mud. After finding the catfish, West wrestled it to shore, where Lane assisted him in getting the fish out of the water.
