Warren Lee Wideman, 68, Carbondale: July 26, 1948 – July 16, 2017

CARBONDALE, Kan. – Warren Lee Wideman, 68, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kan. He was born on July 26, 1948, in Emporia, Kan., the son of August and Alberta Lee Wideman.

Warren grew up on a farm outside Olpe, Kan. He attended Maydale Catholic School and the public schools in Olpe, until he graduated from Olpe High School in 1966. After a few years, he moved to Topeka where he met his future wife.

On Feb. 3, 1975, Warren was married to Pamela Ferry, in Topeka. The couple lived in Topeka and Wichita, Kan., until finally settling down in Carbondale, Kan., in 1979.

In 1975, he began his profession as a delivery driver. He worked for a couple of candy and tobacco companies until 1989, when he got his job at Land Air Express, where he worked until he got ill in May of this year.

Warren attended Grace Chapel, in Carbondale, and was a beloved part of the congregation since 1981.

Warren is survived by his wife Pam of 42 years; a son, Nicholas Wideman, Lawrence, Kan.; two daughters, Holly (Ron) Gudenkauf, Holton, Kan., and Heather Metcalfe, Carbondale; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22, at the Grace Chapel, 419 S. Third St., Carbondale. Burial will be in the Carbondale Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church.
