Marvin C. Bartlett, 73, Melvern: June 5, 1944 – July 19, 2017

MELVERN, Kan. – Marvin C. Bartlett, 73, passed away on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka, Kan. He was born on June 5, 1944, in Burlington Junction, Mo., the son of Garland and Elizabeth Brandon Bartlett.

Marvin had grown up in northwest Missouri and had lived in Topeka for several years before moving to Melvern, Kan., in 1972. He served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969. He had worked most of his life as an over the road truck driver.

On Jan. 18, 1964, Marvin married Linda Meyer, in Maryville, Mo.

Marvin was preceded in death by his two sons, Donald Bartlett, on Aug. 2, 1964, and Dwayne Bartlett, on April 28, 1989.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; two daughters, Melinda Reece, Melvern, and Heather Bartlett, Emporia, Kan.; five siblings, Darrell Bartlett, Wamego, Kan., Shirley McClain, Maryville, Carol McHugh, Maitland, Mo., Daniel Bartlett, Burlington Junction, and Marylin Goddard, Colgate, Okla.; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 24, at the Melvern Church of God, 133 N.W. Mayes St., Melvern. Burial will be in the Melvern Cemetery. The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Sunday, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon.
