Overbrook Osage County Fair presents finale to county fair season

Summer is speeding by and Osage County’s last county fair of the season officially starts next Wednesday. The 2017 Overbrook Osage County Fair runs Aug. 9 to 12 at the Overbrook fairgrounds, along with a carnival and a variety of motor shows for evening entertainment.

While the fair and exhibit entry open on Wednesday, the associated horse show begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at the fairgrounds arena. Here is the complete fair schedule:

Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017

  • 8:30 a.m. – Registration for horse show
  • 9 a.m. – 4-H horse show

Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017

  • 8 to 11 a.m. – Entries open, all entries. (Exception: Dogs and hand pets enter at show time.) Sign up for photography judging contest. Arrival of all livestock for entry, goats and sheep must be vet checked prior to unloading. Donuts and juice sponsored by Frontier Farm Credit at show arena.
  • 11 a.m. – Sheep and goats must be entered, vet-checked and unloaded by 11 a.m.
  • 11 a.m. – Promptly at 11 a.m., mandatory meeting for all livestock exhibitors in the show arena,
  • 12 p.m. – Judging of all exhibits will begin, with food for sale after judging, except livestock.
  • 12-1 p.m. – Weigh-in of all beef, sheep, swine and goats.
  • 1 p.m. – Photography contest judging begins.
  • 6 p.m. – County 4-H King and Queen crowning ceremony at show arena.
  • 7 p.m. – Sheep show followed by dairy and goat shows.

Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017

  • 9 a.m. – Rabbit show.
  • 12 p.m. – Poultry show.
  • 7 p.m. – Swine show.
  • 7 p.m. – Antique tractor pull in the arena.
  • 6-10 p.m. – Carnival.

Friday, Aug. 11, 2017

  • 9 a.m. – Beef showmanship clinic and contest registration.
  • 6 p.m. – Bucket calf show.
  • 7 p.m. – Beef show.
  • 7 p.m. – ATV circle track races.
  • 6-10 p.m. – Carnival.

Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017

  • Dog and pet entries due 30 minutes before shows.
  • 9 a.m. – Pet show.
  • 9:30 a.m. – Dog show, south end of fairgrounds.
  • 10 a.m. – Kids Kontest at soccer fields.
  • 12 p.m. – Kids pedal tractor pull.
  • 6 p.m. – Parade, with theme “Country Pride County Wide”
  • 6:55 p.m. Livestock – Parade of Champions
  • 7:15 p.m. – 4-H livestock sale; 4-H livestock sale buyers dinner immediately following sale; for more information, contact Dennis or Danielle Garrison at 785-250-4802.
  • 7:30 p.m. – UTV races and Demo Derby Theatre.
  • 6-10 p.m. – Carnival.
