Frances Anna Sloop, 86, Lyndon: March 11, 1931 – Sept. 1, 2017

LYNDON, Kan. – Frances Anna Sloop, 86, passed away on Friday, Sept. 1, 2017, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka, Kan. She was born on March 11, 1931, in Concordia, Mo., the daughter of John and Anna Heins Borgelt.

Frances had lived in Kansas City, Mo., before moving to the Lyndon, Kan., community in 1954. She graduated from East High School, in Kansas City, Mo. She was a secretary, homemaker and was co-owner of Sloop Farms and Vermeer Baler Business. She was a member of the Lyndon United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, was treasurer and a member of the UMW. Frances had been a 4-H leader, member of EHU, and served on the Olivet election board.

Frances was married to Don Sloop, on March 13, 1954, in Kansas City, Mo.

Frances was preceded in death by a son, Scott Sloop; a brother, Clark Borgelt; and a son-in-law, Clifford Alexander.

Frances is survived by her husband, Don, of 63 years; a son, David (Carla) Sloop, Lyndon; five daughters, Diane Alexander, Topeka, Sandra (Mark) Silver, Pulaski, Tenn., Lynda (Robert) Farwell, Lyndon, Leeanna (Jerry) Remmert, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Susan (Assem) Baayoun, Wichita, Kan.; a brother, Roger (Cindy) Borgelt, Austin, Texas; a sister-in-law, Barbara Borgelt; two sisters, Evelyn Borgelt and LaVerne (Gus) Riedi, all of Overland Park; and 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, at the Feltner Funeral Chapel, Lyndon. Burial will be in the Melvern Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:30-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
