Nutritious meals served daily at senior center

Submitted by Senior Center Director Byron Jordan

As usual, we had a great crowd at the senior center for lunch on birthday dinner day (the third Wednesday of each month), and our patrons are greatly appreciated. But we ask that local citizens not forget that well-balanced, nutritious lunch meals are served at the center Monday through Friday at noon. A $3 donation is asked for these meals for seniors 60 and over. This is a very good deal, and your patronage helps the nutrition program in so many ways. Hopefully people will see the personal advantage of coming for lunch at the center more than once a month, and at the same time keeping this program and Meals on Wheels running smoothly and efficiently.

One other way the nutrition site is able to keep serving low-cost meals is through fund raising. Please make note on your calendar, one of those fun and delicious fund raisers is the ice cream social on Aug. 1. This is a little ways away, so you will see more about this event as we get closer to that date. Until then, though, please keep it in mind.
