Carbondale library steering committee reports encouraging fundraising event

CARBONDALE, Kan. – The weather was gray and overcast, but it did not dampen the spirits of the citizens and area residents who attended the Carbondale Library Quarter Mania fundraiser on Nov. 11, 2017. The event, hosted by the “Let’s Raise the Roof” library steering committee, created both an opportunity to visit with friends and have fun but also to bid auction style for a variety of products suitable for Christmas gifts or personal use.

“We had vendors and participants asking us when we were going to hold our next Quarter Mania” said Aimee Craig, who organized the event. She said it was affirming to hear this positive response from the participants. Craig is a volunteer member of the steering committee that is raising money for a new library in Carbondale.  She credits success of the event to others of the steering committee who helped her organize, promote and physically set-up for the event.

“This fundraiser and all of our efforts are done as a team. I’m grateful for their help and support,” said Craig.

As the morning event began, Heather Garrison, steering committee co-chair, gave a brief update about the new library project progress and several unsolicited donations were made to the building fund.

“Many people in Carbondale understand what is needed to achieve a project like this,” said Garrison. “It takes not only a vision of how a new library will benefit the community, but also a well thought out plan to accomplish the goal as well as willing volunteers committed to its success. We are fortunate to have all three.“

Craig expressed appreciation for each of the vendors supporting the fundraiser.

On Sunday, Dec. 3, the library will host an open house in conjunction with the 2017 Christmas in Carbondale.
