Alberta Ann Moore, 83, Overbrook: Sept. 3, 1934 – March 11, 2018

OVERBROOK, Kan. – Alberta Ann Moore, 83, of Overbrook, Kan., passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Peterson Health Care, Osage City, Kan.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2018, at the Overbrook United Methodist Church, Overbrook. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Berryton, Kan. The family will meet with friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at the church.

She was born Sept. 3, 1934, in rural Overbrook, the daughter of Albert H. Grove and Edna Lucille (Shively) Grove. Alberta was a lifelong Overbrook resident, graduating from Overbrook High School with the class of 1953.

On June 7, 1953, Alberta was united in marriage with James Henry Moore in Richland, Kan. They shared 58 years of marriage until James’ death in 2012.

Alberta worked as an office assistant for Commercial Insurance, Topeka, Kan., for 40 years until her retirement in 2000.

She was a member of the Overbrook United Methodist Church, and Fidelity Chapter 38 of the Order of the Eastern Star of Carbondale, Kan. Alberta was also an avid Bunco player and belonged to a club for many years. She always enjoyed her time playing cards with her friends. She was always excited to watch her K.U. Jayhawks play a basketball game and even more ready to watch her children or grandchildren wrestling, wherever they had to travel to do so. She was very well known for her cooking and always had the family over for Sunday dinner, making her Jell-O for the grandkids or her Kansas Mud dessert. Her family was her greatest pride and she cherished their times when they were together.

She is survived by four children, Randy Moore and his wife, Sharon, Overbrook, Rick Moore and his wife, Lana, Overbrook, Melody Moore and her companion, Todd, Topeka, and Ronnie Moore and his wife, Tracie, of Scranton, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and many great grandchildren nieces and nephews

Alberta is preceded in death by her husband, James Moore; her parents; and a sister, Frances “Irene” Bame.
