Barbara Jean Linsey, 80, Emporia: Nov. 30, 1937 – March 18, 2018

EMPORIA, Kan. – Barbara Jean Linsey, 80, passed away early Sunday, March 18, 2018, at her home in Emporia, Kan. She was born Nov. 30, 1937, in Lebo, Kan., the daughter of Harvey C. and Nellie Opal Childers Arb.

Barbara attended school in Waverly.

Barbara joined in marriage to Arthur Linsey on Feb. 6, 1955. They spent most of their lives together, raising, training and racing quarter horses. Barbara and Arthur divorced in 2012 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 2017.

Barbara enjoyed children and being outdoors and was a member of Emporia Friends of the Zoo. She always looked forward to family gatherings and loved fried chicken. Barbara shared her sense of humor and infectious smile with family and her special neighbors at Stanton Heights. Barbara was a proud homemaker and had worked at New Process Laundry, in Emporia, for eight years. For several years she cleaned homes in and around Lebo and Emporia.

She will live on in the hearts of her daughters, Joyce Carson and husband, Roy, of Lebo, Carol Upshaw, Houston, Texas, Brenda Johnson, Emporia, and Lisa Keith and husband, Brian, Allen, Kan.; a son, Gene Linsey and wife, Wendy, Admire, Kan.; sister, Geneva Phillips, Osawatomie, Kan.; brother, Lester Arb, Osage City, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and a host of dear friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Wilbur Arb and Harvey Arb.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 22, at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home, Lebo. The family will receive friends 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow services at Lincoln Cemetery.
