Emporia Rotary Club reaches out to neighbors

Emporia Rotary Club is offering a “try before you buy” associate membership to anyone interested in learning more about Rotary. An associate membership allows an individual to become part of the Rotary Club, enjoy its activities, and have time to consider becoming an active and full member.

An associate membership provides a limited one-year membership to the Emporia Rotary Club for an investment of $15 per quarter, or $60 per year. At the end of one year, it is the goal of the club that the associate member apply for full membership, or otherwise discontinue membership.

Upon being inducted into the club, an associate member will receive a Rotary pin and meeting badge.  In return, an associate member is required to attend at least two meetings per month. The Emporia Rotary Club meets 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. every Tuesday at the Emporia Country Club.  Associate members are also encouraged to be involved and participate to the best of their ability in all Rotary events.

The Emporia Rotary Club of nearly 70 members is involved in the community in a variety of ways.  Each year the club distributes dictionaries to all third graders and contribute scholarship funds to both Emporia State University and Flint Hills Technical College.  The club has completed project work at Plumb Place, the Girl Scout Camp, SOS, Salvation Army and Camp Alexander.  A large contribution was also made to the Emporia Zoo for the lemur exhibit and the club also has donated to Corky’s Cupboard at ESU, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Salvation Army, United Way and other organizations.

Rotary is a global network of 1.2 million neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers that see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change – across the globe and in the community.  From literacy and peace to water and health, Rotary is always working to better the world.
