Julia Kay Downs, 58, Reading: Nov. 3, 1959 – April 9, 2018

READING, Kan. – Julia Kay Downs, 58, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018, at her home near Reading, Kan. She was born Nov. 3, 1959, at St. Mary’s Hospital, in Emporia, Kan., the daughter of Glenn E. and Stephanie A. Brezowski Craft.

Julie attended Lebo High School, Lebo, Kan., and graduated with the class of 1977. Following high school, she attended Emporia State University for a year before attending Rogers State University in Claremore, Okla., where she studied ranch management. Julie worked at Hallmark for three years before beginning a career with the United States Postal Service in 1986. She served a total of 28 years with 16 years as clerk and city carrier in Osage City, and 12 years as the Hartford, Kan., postmaster. Julie received early retirement in 2014.

Julia was joined in marriage to Greg Downs, on July 17, 1992, in Eureka Springs, Ark.

She will live on in the hearts of her devoted husband, Greg, of their home; brothers, Richard Craft and his wife, Elaine, Sedan, Kan., Glenn Craft and his wife, Lisa, of California, and John Craft, Lawrence, Kan.; and numerous extended family and countless dear friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2018, at Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home, 107 W. Sixth St., Lebo. Burial will follow at Arvonia Cemetery.
